Artist's Statement

I love experiencing my world through the eyes of a potential painting.  My awareness is heightened and enriched, ordinary scenes can magically come alive with just the right light.

Being in my sea kayak, feeling a part of the water, the air, the animals that I observe on the shorelines, in the sky and even underwater--I love drinking it all in and then interpreting it later in my studio.  It enlivens the experience at the time as well as enabling me to enjoy it again later when I paint.

 It's my way of bringing to the world what I love, and hopefully reminding the viewer of what it feels like to be out in Nature and to be a small part of it.
